How We Rank Plans

Good Plans is built around structured comparisons, filters, and clear plan attributes. Rankings and default sort orders are based on visible plan data rather than paid position.

Core ranking inputs

  • Advertised price and the difference between intro pricing and ongoing pricing
  • Included data allowance or NBN speed tier
  • No-lock-in or contract status
  • Meaningful feature flags such as modem inclusions or bonus value
  • How comparable the offer is against similar plans in the same category

What does not change rankings

Affiliate commissions do not buy a better position in the comparison table. Good Plans may earn a commission on some outbound clicks or sales, but that does not override the underlying sort logic or the visible filter settings chosen by the reader.

Why rankings can change

Rankings can change when providers change prices, launch promotional discounts, alter plan inclusions, or remove offers. Some users will also see different results because they apply different filters, such as restricting the comparison to no-lock-in plans or a narrower budget range.

Editorial vs comparison rankings

Editorial pages sometimes discuss which plans look strongest for a specific use case, such as low-cost prepaid or value-focused NBN 50. Those editorial summaries are separate from the on-page comparison sorting and are meant to explain tradeoffs, not hide them.
